Beginner
Project Time:
8-20 Hours
Project Cost:
$500-$1,000
Project Description:
Custom built cherry enclosures using the AviaTrix-RST MTM component kit.
Design Goals:
I needed a custom sized enclosure to fit in a specific spot in my theater room, that matched my existing custom cherry wood work and my wife didn’t hate.
Driver Selection:
AviaTrix-RST MTM Component Kit
Enclosure Design:
I made paper templates of where I wanted the speakers to fit then worked from those.
I made the inside adjustable so I could change the internal volume of the speakers, but in the end I didn’t need to do that.
Even though I swayed away from the suggested kit design, they sound spectacular.
Crossover Design:
Included with Kit
Tips & Tricks:
Make sure to purchase the proper hardware, connectors and wire when ordering your kit, take your time and have fun.
Conclusion:
I loved the project and plan on building more kits and look forward to learning more about enclosure and cross over design .
They sound great even though I didn’t follow the design parameters that were suggested with the kit.
I winged it and they are awesome
I shot a series of 10 videos I posted on YouTube starting with concept to completion
About the Designer:
I’m just a wood worker and glass artist that likes to tinker with everything, the AviaTrix kit seemed to be the easiest way to get into speaker building, I’m glad I did it.
