Project Description:

This is a portable speaker that has sort of a vintage look on the outside but, very new technology on the inside. Dayton’s RC180-55 2″ x 7″ Res-Core™ Neodymium Woofer for a subwoofer and 2 Tang Band T1-1942SB Speaker Modules for the mids and highs.

Design Goals:
Full range, accurate sound in a portable and stylish package.

Driver Selection:

Dayton’s RC180-55 2″ x 7″ Res-Core™ Neodymium Woofer for a subwoofer and 2 Tang Band T1-1942SB Speaker Modules for the mids and highs.

Enclosure Design

Vintage guitar amplifier style.

Crossover Design:

For amplification I used the Dayton Audio KABD-430 4 x 30W All-in-one Amplifier Board with DSP in a 2.1 configuration using the free SigmaStudio Software to set the crossover points and control the equalization. This is a powerful tool that really lets you get the most out of your system.

Tips & Tricks:

Take your time!

Conclusion:

This project turned out great! Excellent and impressive sound from a small package. Great for tailgating.
