Project Description:

I call this speaker the “Mk1” since it’s my first build. Feel very happy about this build. So let me know what you guys think! All but a few parts were sourced from you guys @ partsexpress!

Design Goals:

Initially, I was wanting to make a bass heavy bluetooth speaker, which don’t get me wrong I definitely did. But in the end, I feel like I’ve made a high-end HiFi Bluetooth speaker. Again let me know what you all think!

Enclosure Design:

All enclosures are sealed. Subwoofer enclosure is a .23cbft. Had to double baffle the bottom to fit the 8″ passive down firing. L/R channel I put together. Roughly .06 cbft. For sound deadening. Subwoofer is lined with 1/8″ closed cell foam & the L/R channels have a patch of 1/4″ open cell foam on the back wall, 1/2 open cell strips on the side walls with a little polyfill stuffed around the corners.

Enclosure Assembly:

Sub box used Titebond II and 1.25″ brad nails. L/R boxes were clamped and glued with Titebond II & screwed into the side of the subwoofer enclosure.

Crossover Design:

This build requires 0 crossovers thanks to the TPS3116D2 amplifier board.

Tips & Tricks:

Take you’re time. Measure twice, even 3 times, cut once.

Conclusion:

I am very impressed with this build to say the least, although it is my first. The clean and crisp clarity is unlike any Bluetooth speaker I’ve listened to before. Also the loudest I’ve heard, the mids/highs get so loud indoors it hurts and I think it honestly has ridiculous bass output for a Bluetooth speaker. Tuned around 25hz, things on my walls shake. All in all I absolutely love this build. Very loud outdoors too.
