Project Time: 20+ hours
Project Complexity: Hobbyist
Project Cost: $500-$1000
Driver Selection
(2) RS180 Seas TBFC/G (H1212)
Enclosure Design
Martin J. King’s Mathcad worksheets; dimensions to follow Edge by Tovlan
Amplifier/Crossover Configuration
Cauer/Elliptic, 8th order emulation to allow a low (~1200 Hz) crossover point. The primary reason is to avoid the higher frequency break-up distortions in the RS180.
Enclosure Assembly
A combination of bubinga and quartered sycamore over a carcase of mdf. Lined with 1/4″ “backer board” using silicone caulk as the adhesive. 1 1/4″ radius roundover of baffle edges. 3 1/2″ port with flared entry and exit. Cabinet feet inspired by Totem.
Conclusion
Never satisfied; Always looking for the next project
