The Steam Amp DEUX Project

Project Cost: Over $1000

Concept
This is my second tube amplifier project. The first was a small kit that I picked up for a couple hundred bucks, and while it sounded great, it was far from what I would consider a dream-build. For this project I wanted to step it up a bit. I wanted to build a point-to-point wired amp, not just solder components onto a circuit board. I dug around on the net and settled upon the Dynako MKIII as a platform. As the MKIII is a mono amp, there are two – one for each channel. The enclosure is built from walnut and copper. I’ve built a pair of matching speakers which I will post in the speaker section here. The amps put out 60 watts per channel, and sound pretty darned good!
